About this role

You will join a small platform team that owns the services every Medonix product sits on top of: claim ingestion, payer routing, eligibility, the agent orchestration layer, and the data pipelines feeding the analytics module. The platform handles real claim volume from real practices, so reliability is not a future problem. It is a daily one.

We use TypeScript and Go in production, Postgres as the primary store, Kafka for high-volume event flow, and a vendor-neutral cloud stack. Engineering rituals are async-first: design docs land in writing, decisions get recorded, and reviews happen on the diff.

What you will own

  • Own one or two platform services end-to-end: design, build, on-call, and the SLA they ship against.
  • Reduce the latency and cost of the claim ingestion pipeline as volume grows year over year.
  • Design APIs that the AI Suite, EHR, PMS, and Analytics modules consume, and that customer engineering teams integrate against.
  • Drive a measurable improvement in platform reliability (we publish SLOs and burn rates internally every week).
  • Mentor a junior or mid-level engineer on the team.

Must-haves

  • 6+ years building production backend services at meaningful scale.
  • Strong TypeScript or Go. Comfortable in both within 3 months on the job.
  • Production experience with Postgres performance tuning beyond the basics.
  • Production experience with a queue / streaming system (Kafka, NATS, SQS, or similar).
  • Comfortable owning on-call rotations and writing the postmortems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior healthcare / fintech / regulated-domain experience.
  • Experience with HL7 v2, FHIR, or X12 EDI.
  • Experience designing systems that handle PHI under HIPAA.
  • Open-source maintainership of something non-trivial.

Day in the life

Mornings open with a 30-minute team standup that runs async in Slack first and a 15-minute live sync second. The rest of the day is deep-work time on whichever service you own. Expect one design review, one PR review, and one customer-context conversation in a typical day. On-call weeks are roughly one in six and have historically averaged less than one production page per week.

Compensation

Base $190K–$240K depending on location and depth, plus 0.05%–0.20% equity, plus a 10–15% target performance bonus. Comp is reviewed annually with transparent banding.
