Own the infrastructure under the platform: Kubernetes, observability, on-call rigor, and the controls that keep us SOC 2 / HITRUST clean.
About this role
You will run the production environment that every Medonix service ships to. The stack is Kubernetes on a major cloud provider, Postgres + read replicas for the primary store, Kafka for event flow, and a Prometheus / Grafana / Loki / Tempo observability stack. SOC 2 Type II is audited annually and HITRUST is in flight.
What you will own
- Own production infrastructure: cluster fleet, network, observability, and incident response.
- Drive the SOC 2 and HITRUST control evidence so the auditors come back and you do not break a sweat.
- Reduce MTTR through better runbooks, better alerts, and better on-call ergonomics.
- Lead the next infrastructure migration on the roadmap (multi-region active-active is on the docket).
Must-haves
- 5+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale.
- Strong Linux / networking foundations: you understand what is happening in tcpdump.
- Prior on-call leadership experience and demonstrable MTTR improvements.
- Familiarity with at least one major compliance framework (SOC 2, HITRUST, ISO 27001, or PCI).
Nice-to-haves
- Healthcare / HIPAA-aware infrastructure experience.
- Experience with policy-as-code (OPA, Kyverno) or supply-chain hardening (Sigstore, SLSA).
- Postgres operator experience or strong DBA-adjacent skills.
Day in the life
You will spend mornings on whichever cross-team initiative you are pushing forward (multi-region, observability uplift, control automation). Afternoons are reserved for incident review, RCA writeups, and the ongoing work of making on-call livable. Pages are rare and we keep it that way intentionally.
Compensation
Base $180K–$230K depending on depth and location, plus 0.05%–0.15% equity, plus a 10–15% target performance bonus.
